* This certification permits me to work with recovering alcoholics and addicts who are experiencing difficulty maintaining consistent sobriety. Terrence Gorski (www.cenaps.com) pulled from his substantial knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction treatment to develop a method of fine tuning relapse warning signs to the extent that they are discovered to be personal to the individual experiencing difficulty. I work with appropriate individuals using Gorski's Relapse Prevention Therapy Workbook. It is very important for the client to understand that this work is meant to support a conscientious 12 Step recovery program and is not meant to replace it. During client sessions individual relapse warning signs are brought to light and therapeutic issues which originally contributed to addictive tendencies are discovered as well. For this reason the number of sessions needed to complete the process is individual. Additionally, it is my belief that this therapeutic/workbook experience is not necessarily limited to individuals struggling with abstinence in sobriety. The sessions can also be utilized to enhance the existing recovery program of those experiencing abstinence success but less than desirable "serenity" success.
